The Art of Rest

Seeds of Stillness: Seasonal Yoga for the Deep Winter

An all levels restorative yoga practice to awaken our senses through this transition between winter and spring.

Saturday February 16th

5:00-6:30pm

Room #2

The Art of Rest is an elegant invitation & beautiful expression of restorative yoga to nourish our nervous system & return it to its natural state; one of calm and clarity. Melt muscle tension & ease anxieties by being completely supported with the use of props. Seasonal Yoga invites an intimate connection to the natural world as a way to support us in our practice.

In this Art of Rest workshop, we will connect to a seasonal practice, inviting that special energy stirring from late winter to early spring. Welcome the essence of still practices: restorative, nidra, reiki, pranayama & meditation which are nourishing, & distilled.

Notice Nature.

Notice the same rhythms within nature are happening in your own being, & drop into a practice which supports your inner nature, resilience & intimacy with the seeds of stillness in your life.

Please dress warmly with layers & bring your own mat, bolsters, blocks, blankets, and eye pillows to support your comfort. Feel free to get creative! You can also bring your own pillows and towels. A limited amount of blocks will be available. All other props must be brought from your own collection.

Resonance: The Authentic Voice

Speaking your Truth

A workshop for yoga teachers will guide you in finding a more resonant voice, & develop a clearer presence while in the teachers seat, & off the mat in daily life.

Saturday February 16

8:00-9:30am

Room #8

Our voice is how we share what is in our hearts. It’s the flow of creativity, the timbre of our thoughts, the rhythm & essence of how we communicate our being to the world. Listening to a “yoga voice” can be exquisite or pained. Speech can wrap us up in a blanket of safety, seduce us into a puddle or scare us straight.

As a teacher your voice must be strong enough to reach the entire space, resilient in order to get through a week of classes, convey intimacy in movement & capture the sacredness of stillness.

This training will guide yoga teachers in finding a more resonant voice, & develop a clearer presence while in the teachers seat, & off the mat in daily life. We will practice strengthening vocal techniques through movement & sound. This workshop will help you discover the authentic voice waiting to move through you & out into the world. Confidence has a sound to it: Vital, Radiant & Rich.

Our voice is how we share what is in our hearts. It’s the flow of creativity.

The timbre of our thoughts. The rhythm and essence of how we communicate our being to the world. A quality and resonance of listening to someone can be exquisite or pained. Speech can wrap us up in a blanket of safety, seduce us into a puddle or scare us straight.

As a yoga teacher your voice must be strong enough to reach the entire space, convey intimacy in movement and capture the sacredness of stillness. Have you ever felt that your voice didn’t convey what you really felt? That it stuck or stopped itself? That it just doesn’t feel like...YOU?

Just as sometimes our body needs a workout with yoga, or our mind needs a moment or two in meditation, our voice too requires attuning and alignment. This training will guide yoga teachers to finding their voice and to encourage a clear and confident self to emerge in a safe and loving environment.

Nourish

Meditation & Relaxation

An all levels workshop on finding comfort and ease in three of the most common positions for reflection and relaxation: Siddasana & Suhkasana & Savasana

Sunday February 17th

3:00pm-4:30pm

Room #7

Arguably the most important poses in the asana canon, siddasana/suhkasana and savasana are where we integrate, release and reflect. How many times have you sat cross legged, uncomfortably numb or laid there at the end of class just waiting for it to be over? Taking a comfortable seat and practicing relaxation can both be a challenge for many.

This workshop will focus on these two significant styles of postures within the yoga cannon:
Seated Mediation (Siddasana & Suhkasana) and Relaxation (Savasana/Corpse Pose)

Using props, cuing and guided visualizations, this workshop will focus on many tricks and treats to deepen these poses. Expect gentle movement to ease bodies into sitting and reclined postures and demonstrations of the options on how to create comfort within your own body - bring your props!

A session for both the practitioner and teacher on how to guide for yourselves and students into comfort. We will make the postures for mediation and restoration accessible, easeful, and an enriching experience. You’ll come to look forward to sitting and taking savasana.

Please dress warmly with layers. It is imperative to please bring your own mat and props (bolsters, meditation cushions, blocks, blankets and eye pillows) to better facilitate your comfort as we demonstrate and practice these poses. There will only be a minimal amount of blocks available.
